Norman Baugher, while residing in a small town in Texas, began photographing architecture and abstracts in 1977. His passion for adventure and photography has taken him around the globe to many different and diverse locations; from the Amazon rainforest to the canals of Venice, and most recently, Prague for the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution (gallery images to be posted soon). His images document a sense of presence. Like Ansel Adams, he believes that their are two people in a photograph--the one behind the camera, and the one viewing it. He uses a Pentax 6x7 camera to create fine art black & white prints from film. His recent inspiration comes from his friend Elliott Landy, (www.landyvision.com) who documented the music scene which culminated with the 1969 Woodstock Festival, of which he was the official photographer. He is internationally know for these photographs and also his incredibly large body of work unrelated to the rock 'n roll music scene. Norman currently resides with his wife and two children in New York City and Woodstock, New York |
